R.I.P. Father Charles Shelby, C.M.

Father Charles Shelby, C.M., a charter board member of the Vocation Fund, 2015-16.

The Vocation Fund Board was saddened to learn of the Aug. 6, 2026 death of Father Charles Shelby, C.M., a charter board member of the National Fund for Catholic Religious Vocations.

Shelby’s service on the Vocation Fund Board overlapped with his time at DePaul University in Chicago, where he served as Vice Chancellor from 2005 to 2016 and as superior of the DePaul Vincentian Residence from 2012 to 2015.

The Vocation Fund welcomed Shelby's wisdom, experience, and insights as we established the Fund in 2014 and shaped initial plans for promotion and development. We will remember with gratitude his commitment to supporting Catholic religious vocations.
